suitsaheroIt creates something of a mistaken impression, how eternal dragons are-- they do not experience time differently from anyone else, merely for a longer span of it. This particular dragon has grown dreadfully, deathly bored over the years and never moreso than in his time between meeting this so called "Warrior of Light" and the interminable time between her visits.
It's not that he's particularly unhappy, exactly. He has some smaller dragons he commands and looks after and there's always the incursions from Ishgard. He can't help what his kin want to do, but it always makes him sad, to have to hurt the mortals he's always found endlessly fascinating. So avoidance is better.
Which is why he's flying as fast as he can over mountains no large dragon has been seen coming over in ages, sending the Observatorium into a panic.

It starts with a pretty girl in snow, because when does it ever not, but it more specifically starts with a pretty girl sending a distress call through an ancient communication device. It just so happens that he happens to be a particularly large fan of this pretty girl insnow distress and if she's calling him, she must be very distressed indeed-- something he will not stand for.
He has forms that others would take less note of, but all of them move too slowly, so he's winging quickly down out of the mountains of Ishgard into the flatter lands and forests beyond and then, quite quickly, straight for the deserts of Uldah. Divorced from the crystal that serves as communication, he can send no word of his coming, but he's not thinking particularly clearly or hard about that. Pahja is in trouble and he's going to fix it. He can figure out the particulars later.
